Drawing upon science, history and pop culture, the Science of Kissing is everything you always wanted to know about kissing but haven't asked, couldn't find out or didn't realize you should understand. Living History Farms Spirits & Sweets
February 11

Pair one-of-a-kind mini martinis mixed by Iowa artisan distillers with bite-sized sweet treats created by local bakeries. Mingle and nosh as you visit with distillers about the process of making spirits with Iowa corn, and don't forget to stop by the olive bar provided by Gateway Market. Other partners include Templeton Rye, Cedar Ridge Distillery, Crème Cupcakes, El Patio, Mississippi River Distilling Company and Sweet Binney’s. The event is from 3-6 p.m., at the Living History Farms Visitor Center. Tickets can be purchased here: http://bit.ly/xXrOC3. Deacon's Day VI

Habitat Young Professionals & Bella Soul will host Deacon’s Day VI on Feb. 11, a concert to benefit the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity. Join us to hear artists from the thriving local music scene in Des Moines, and help a great cause. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $15 ahead of time and $20 at the door. Young Variety Happy Hour at Tartine

Live music, $1 off all wine and beer and $2 off all small plates. Guests can also participate in our weekly Sips and Snacks, featuring specialty beers. For $15, guests can try four different beers and four paired 'bites' created by Chef Mike Holman. Marty Lester, Executive Director of Mentor Iowa, will be present to tell his "Variety Story." It's a great way to support Variety and celebrate the end of the work week! The event is from 6-8 p.m., and at Tartine, 12695 University Ave., Clive (NE corner of 128th & University).
