Event Description:
Green Up Des Moines… Earth Day means action!
Volunteers are needed to clear away invasive species to improve wildlife habitat, clean up litter, and beautify our parks, trails, and other public spaces in the Greater Des Moines Metro.
Last year, we had almost 1,000 volunteers remove over 6,000 pounds of litter, tires & recyclables.
Reasons to join the effort!
- Show your commitment to the community & the Earth
- Great team-building! Wear those company shirts if you have them!
- Free lunch & a day outside enjoying the great outdoors
Let’s get started!
- Select a captain to lead the charge.
Captains recruit employees, act as a liaison with event organizers, attend the captain’s meeting, distribute supplies and logistical information to your team! If your team has more than one captain, it will be necessary to submit their names separately.
- If you are unable to submit the registration online, complete and email this form.
You don’t have to have everyone recruited until Friday, March 30, 12:00 p.m. Send us your roster then & we will assign territories and firm up all logistics.
- Send your captain to the mandatory captain meeting on:
Wednesday, April 11, 10:30-11:30
Downtown Community Alliance
Arthur Davis Conference Room
700 Locust Street, Ste. 100.
Here you’ll receive a map of your territory, receive wristbands for your team’s free lunch and review logistical information necessary for Earth Day!
- Collect your team’s volunteer waivers.
Bring along to the captain meeting on April 11 or scan & send as one group with (team name & captain name) to trashbash@dmgov.org.
